This bilingual native of Eastern Ontario has been a headlining comedian for more than 20 years. Early in that career, Denis realized that he wanted to perform comedy that worked above the neck, not below the belt. The Ottawa Citizen has described him as a “sharp and likeable comic who respects an audience’s intelligence.” The Globe and Mail, meanwhile, said he was “wonderfully relaxed.”
His comedy has been featured on the national CBC programs, The Debaters, DNTO and Marketplace. He's the creative force behind the No Foul Language Comedy Tour, which has been recorded for CBC Radio's flagship comedy program, Laugh Out Loud.
In August 2010, he had the honour of traveling to Afghanistan to perform for the Canadian troops.
Denis's emceeing skills are often called upon by major corporations for their conventions and conferences – writing custom material in both official languages!
An award-winning journalist, his radio documentaries are still heard across the country on the CBC; he’s also a regular contributor to several national magazines and newspapers, including The Toronto Star.
Denis's humour is down-to-earth, but not below-the-belt. Indeed, it’s an act that’s devoid of offensive slurs and weaves its way seamlessly through politics, business, family, education and even his own foibles as an old-timer’s hockey goalie.
Denis and his wife, along with their two sons, currently live on a 50-acre farm near Peterborough where they raise assorted chickens and turkeys. (He's working on procuring a donkey.)
